& Walnut Loaf
¾ cup boiling water
One cup dates, pitted and chopped.
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 ozs. margarine
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups of flour
½ cup chopped walnuts
½ tsp. vanilla.
Pour the boiling water over the
dates and baking soda – allow to stand.
Beat the margarine and sugar, then add the egg, then flour and
mix well.
Stir in the dates and the liquid, add vanilla and mix well.
Bake in a greased and lined loaf pan
for an hour at 325 degrees.
