Method
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan and cook the onions
for a few minutes. Add the flour and cool for
another minute.
2. Stir in the milk and stock or water, bring to the
boil, season and gently simmer for 5 minutes
3. Grate the cheese, toss it into the soup and
simmer until melted. Do not allow to boil.
Biscuits
Ingredients
8 oz plain flour
½ level teaspoon baking powder
3 oz butter
3 oz caster sugar
½ level teaspoon caraway seeds
1 tablespoon milk
1 egg
Method
1. Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl, add
the butter and rub it in until evenly distributed.
2. Stir in he sugar and caraway seeds then bind the
mixture together with the egg and milk to make a
fairly stiff dough.
3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll it
out thinly. Then cut out he biscuits with a 3 inch
plain cutter.
4. Place the biscuits on greased baking trays and
bake at gas 5 / 375°F / 190°C for about 10 minutes
until light golden brown. |
