San Diego Scottish Highland Games

Frequently Asked Questions

Are dogs allowed?
While we absolutely love dogs, only documented service animals are allowed.
Do you accept credit cards?
Tickets may be purchased online, with credit or debit cards. On the day of the event, tickets may also be purchased at the gate with credit/debit card (or cash). Once you are inside, some of our vendors accept cards, however many are cash-only. For your convenience, there is an atm inside the grounds, in the food court.
Can I bring my own food?
Absolutely. While there is a selection of food vendors inside the food court, we understand that some may have special diet needs, or simply just want to bring a favorite snack/meal from home. Please note: Alcoholic beverages are not allowed to be brought inside.
Is there seating inside?
We do have some seating, located throughout the grounds, in the form of folding chairs, and low bleachers. However, you are more than welcome to bring your own (i.e. folding camping chair).
Are the games handicap accessible?
We have put extra care to ensure our guests have access to the games with as little difficulty as possible. This includes designated handicap parking, designated drop-off/pickup areas, designated paths for handicapped visitors, designated seating areas for wheelchairs (and companions wishing to bring a folding chair), and larger accessible bathrooms.
Why can’t I carry my alcohol throughout the whole park?
California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has very strict rules about where alcohol may be served and consumed. One such requirement, is that it is in a fully-enclosed area. As we cannot fully fence the entire park, it may only be consumed in the areas that can be fenced. This includes the beer garden at the main stage, as well as the entire lower section where the small stage, vendors, and athletics are. There are beer vendors in both areas, for your convenience. You can checkout the layout on our printable, pdf map here.
What if I can’t find on-site parking?
While there is parking on-site, managed by the city of Vista, there are also free parking spots along the road, around the grounds. If you have difficulty finding a spot at any of these locations, there is additional parking at Vista high school, which costs $5.00, and has a shuttle that runs to/from the games.
Additionally, we highly encourage guests to take advantage of ride-share services, such as Lyft or Uber, particularly those who intend to consume alcoholic beverages.
