Of San Diego County’s 3.3 million residents*, over 1 million people face nutrition insecurity.** Of this number, 284,500 are children.** San Diegans facing nutrition insecurity are unable to provide three nutritious meals a day for themselves or their households. We know many are facing difficulties in these hard economic times, food scarcity being a factor. We wanted to be part of the solution, reaching beyond our Scottish community, and help support San Diego as a whole.
That’s why we’ve partnered with the North County Food Bank and will be hosting a canned food drive at this year’s San Diego Scottish Highland Games. Each of our 3 gates will have barrels out front which you are encouraged to bring a can to, as you enter the grounds.
Your contributions will help so many San Diego County residents in need!
