words and music (c) 2013, Jeanne McDougall
People come from many different lands
We share one world, together hand in hand
But if you see something special in the shining Scottish sky
There’s a reason and you’ll know it when I tell you why ….
There’s a wee bit o’ Scot in us all
There’s a wee bit o’ Scot in us all
Young or old, lass or laddie, dark or fair, great or small
There’s a wee bit o’ Scot in us all!
Shortbread and Strathspeys crossed the ocean foam
And Scotties, and Shelties, you just want to take them home
And who hasn’t thrilled to a sprightly Highland Fling?
And the auld tunes of Scotland make you want to sing (refrain)
Rabbie Burns and tartans are loved the whole world through
And haggis isn’t scary, and they can make it vegan, too!
The pipes and drums beat in ev’ry band that marches forth
And an artichoke’s a thistle that missed the train north (refrain)
Scottish is a state of mind, no matter where you’re born
And bourbon WOULD be whisky, if it weren’t for all that corn
And all those other spirits, it wouldn’t be their fault
If secretly they longed to be a single malt (refrain)
When you feel a Scotch mist rising at the dawn
When you see a bonnie kilt, and it kinda turns you on
When you hear the pipes calling, now doesn’t that sound fine?
And the tartans, don’t you wonder, which one’s mine?
(last time)
There’s a wee bit o’ Scot in us all
There’s a wee bit o’ Scot in us all
Young or old, lass or laddie, dark or fair, great or small
There’s a wee bit o’ Scot — no, it doesn’t take a lot
Just a wee bit o’ Scot in us all!
